• MOBILITY: Clinicians frequently move between rooms and departments. The mobile app provides access to billing at the point of care, reducing reliance on a fixed workstation. Practical considerations include device availability, network connectivity, and secure authentication to protect patient information.
• QUICK BILL: Time pressures make manual data entry impractical. The app supports auto-population of patient demographics from hospital labels or the OHIP card, and it leverages the device’s location features to infer the service location and master number. While these capabilities can speed data capture and reduce keystrokes, indoor GPS reliability and data accuracy, as well as privacy and security controls, warrant careful review.
• PATIENT ROSTER: The Patient Roster enables clinicians to track inpatients under their care or in consultation for billing purposes. The Inpatient Claim Wizard can generate claims for an entire hospital stay, and individual claims can be added as needed. This feature supports alignment of billing with clinical episodes, but it requires disciplined data stewardship to keep admissions, discharges, and transfers synchronized with patient records.
